THE SHORT ANSWER
A slow charge can come from limited charger power, an incompatible cable, heat, phone use, or an intentional battery setting. Start with the symptom, then change one thing at a time.
First, distinguish a slow charge from a deliberate pause
Check the charging message and battery settings before buying a replacement adapter. An iPhone can postpone charging beyond 80 percent with Optimized Battery Charging, while a selected Charge Limit intentionally stops it near that level. These features manage battery aging; a paused percentage alone does not identify a faulty cable.
Write down the starting percentage, charging message, and whether the phone is unusually warm. That makes the next comparison useful: a phone charging from a low battery is a different situation from one approaching its configured limit.

Make one controlled comparison
Google’s troubleshooting sequence separates the outlet, cable, adapter, and phone. Use that approach instead of replacing everything together. If you already have compatible spare equipment, it can help narrow down the problem before you spend money.
- Connect a compatible wall adapter directly to a working outlet and connect the phone securely.
- Check whether the case prevents the plug from seating properly. Visually check the port for an obstruction.
- Try a known working, compatible cable while keeping the adapter and outlet unchanged.
- Next, try another compatible adapter. Note whether the charging indication changes.
- If another device works with the original equipment, record that result for support; it does not prove compatibility with your phone.

Check the power source and fast-charging setting
A computer, hub, or car USB port may supply less charging power than a suitable wall adapter. Multiport adapters can also divide their available power among connected devices. For a useful comparison, disconnect other devices and check the adapter’s per-port specifications.
On supported Galaxy phones, Samsung provides a Fast charging setting under battery charging settings; the menu depends on the model and software. Confirm it is enabled if you want fast charging. A larger wattage label alone does not establish that the adapter supports your phone’s charging mode.
- Look up the exact phone model, rather than assuming every model in a brand has the same requirements.
- Compare with the manufacturer’s recommended charger protocol and cable, not only the connector shape.

Reduce heat and check wireless placement
Games, camera use, and bright-screen video can reduce charging speed. Put the phone aside during your comparison. Temperature protection can slow or suspend charging; move out of direct sun and let the device cool naturally.
For wireless charging, verify that the pad supports your specific phone and that the phone is aligned correctly. Google notes that thick or metallic cases and movement can interfere. Try a compatible wired connection to separate a wireless placement problem from a broader charging problem.

Know when accessory swaps are no longer enough
Stop using a cable or adapter with visible damage, such as a broken connector or bent plug. If an unsupported-accessory message persists, Apple recommends a direct connection, a different cable or charger, restarting, and current software. Follow your manufacturer’s port-care instructions rather than forcing a connector or attempting an internal repair.
If compatible replacements and a working outlet do not resolve the issue, contact the manufacturer or an authorized repair provider. Share the charging message and the comparisons you made so they can distinguish an accessory problem from a phone that needs service.
