How information is used when you browse ChargerUniverse or search for charging.

Your choices
You can use the finder without allowing analytics or sharing your device location. Use the Privacy / analytics control to allow or decline optional analytics, or change an earlier choice. Your choice is saved in this browser’s local storage; clearing that storage resets it.
Location searches
Text entered for location suggestions is sent to our server. When you submit a search, the server uses your city, ZIP code or address to find coordinates. ZIP and city suggestions use our stored postal index. City and address searches, and ZIP codes missing from that index, may be sent to Geoapify for geocoding.
Selecting Use my location asks your browser for location access. If permitted, your coordinates are sent to our server to find nearby stations. You can revoke location permission in your browser settings. The finder keeps your chosen location and filters in the current browser session’s memory while you navigate; it does not save them in cookies or persistent browser storage.
Charging data and maps
Station searches read charging records imported from NLR / AFDC. Selecting a hotel or store category can request business data from Geoapify using a rounded search region and the selected category. Our server stores reusable geocoding results, business records and coverage regions. These can include submitted address text and returned coordinates. Cache expiry controls when results are reused; it is not an automatic deletion deadline.
Maps load tiles directly from OpenStreetMap. Those requests reveal the displayed map area and connection information, such as your IP address, to the tile service. Selecting Directions opens Google Maps with the charging station’s coordinates. These services handle requests under their own privacy policies: Geoapify, OpenStreetMap Foundation and Google.
Optional Google Analytics
When enabled, Google Analytics loads only after you choose Allow analytics. We use it to understand basic page usage. Our page events include approved page names and URLs without query strings or fragments. External referrals include only the referring site’s origin, not its full address; internal referrals use approved page URLs.
Our analytics events exclude finder search text, precise coordinates and calculator values. Google can process cookie identifiers, browser and device information, and network information such as IP addresses to provide usage statistics and approximate location. Our integration disables Google signals and advertising personalization. See Google’s explanation of Analytics data collection and its privacy policy.
Changing your analytics choice
Open Privacy / analytics and choose Decline analytics to stop further analytics events from this integration. This also removes the Google Analytics cookies that this integration sets on the current host. It does not erase information already sent to Google. You can also clear site cookies and storage through your browser. Declining analytics does not disable charging searches.
Website requests and other sites
Our hosting service and external providers receive connection information when they serve requests. Search API requests can contain your submitted location or coordinates, even though these are excluded from our analytics events. Links to social profiles and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
